Initial Grades for the Titans Major 2025 Free Agent Signings!

Week 1 of NFL Free Agency is nearly in the books, and the Tennessee Titans made a few major signings, so let’s give some INITIAL GRADES for each significant addition.

Donald Page/Tennessee Titans

OT Dan Moore Jr: C+

Contract Details: 4-years, $82 million ($20.5 million AAV, $50 million GRT, $30 million in Year 1)

Moore was a four-year starter for the Steelers and allowed more than seven sacks and 39 quarterback pressures in each season. The 26-year-old is coming off an underwhelming 2024 campaign, allowing 12 sacks and 41 quarterback pressures in 627 pass-blocking snaps.

Though the $82 million number is incredibly high, Moore is still a developing player who rarely misses games and allows JC Latham to move back to his natural position, right tackle. I'm not a huge fan of this signing, but I could definitely see it working out in the long run.

LB Cody Barton: B+

Contract Details:

Barton played all 17 games and started 14 for the Broncos in 2024, totaling 106 tackles with two interceptions and 32 defensive stops. The 28-year-old is average in pass coverage but is a tenacious run defender and a fantastic scheme fit in Dennard Wilson’s aggressive defense. This is one of my favorite signings, as Barton is a solid player who fills a position of need, and the contract is very team-friendly.

S Xavier Woods: B+

Contract Details: 2-years, $10 million ($5 million AAV)

Woods has been a consistent starter for most of his career and is coming off a nice 2024 campaign, where he started all 17 games, played 100% of the Panthers defensive snaps, and snagged three interceptions with 72 tackles and 21 defensive stops. Is he a high-level starter? No. But Woods is durable and will give Tennessee solid play at safety next to Amani Hooker.

WR Van Jefferson: C+

Contract Details: 1-year, $2.5 million

There’s not much to talk about with Jefferson. The Tennessee native is a solid depth receiver who could serve as the WR3 but is best suited in a WR4 or WR5 role. Jefferson will give Tennessee 200-300 yards and a few touchdowns, but Borgonzi still needs to add a starting-caliber player to the position group.

G Kevin Zeitler: A

Contract Details: 1-year, $9 million

This is the best signing the Titans have made, and this is a fact, not an opinion. Zeitler was one of the better guards in football last year, allowing five sacks and just 17 quarterback pressures in 577 pass-blocking snaps for the Lions. He also posted an 87.2 run-blocking grade, which ranked third highest among guards.

Zeitler is an upgrade over Dillon Radunz, and his veteran experience and mentorship will be incredibly beneficial for left guard Peter Skoronski. Additionally, his contract is affordable and carries zero financial risk after 2025.

DL Dre’Mont Jones: B+

Contract Details: 1-year, $10 million

Jones hasn’t missed a game in two years and had a solid season in a rotational role for the Seahawks last year, totaling 4.5 sacks and 45 quarterback pressures with 13 defensive stops. Jones has the ability to serve as a starter, but the Titans will likely use one of their first two picks on an edge rusher, so he’ll be in a role he’s comfortable with in Tennessee.

QB Brandon Allen: C for Cam Ward

Contract Details: 1-year, $1.4 million

Again, there’s not much to talk about here. Allen worked with head coach Brian Callahan during his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, and he has been a third-string quarterback for most of his career. If Allen and Levis are the only signal-callers on the Titans roster heading into April, Cam Ward should start looking for houses in Nashville.
